Typical Hunting Day

The early season hunt will consist mostly of local birds. These birds have been in the area raising their young and creating family groups. These family groups start to join up and can create some of the best big honker hunting around. However, as the weather changes in the North Country, you will see a huge influx of northern birds. From mid-September until late November, huge flocks of Canada, Snow, and White fronted geese along with huge Mallards stage in our area via the Central Flyway. Hunting a field that has Canada’s, Snow’s, Spec’s and ducks all feeding in it is something we can make possible at Alberta Flyway Waterfowl Outfitters.

Taking AimThe actual hunting takes place in pea and grain fields, with a large spread of quality full body and silhouette decoys. We use state of the times coffin blinds by Avery and Final approach. A typical day involves an early morning start with duck or goose hunting, then back to the lodge for lunch around 11am, perhaps a little rest and then out again for a duck or goose shoot in the late afternoon/early evening.

Once back at camp for the night, you will have a hearty meal and time to swap some hunting tales. Our warm and organized lodge allows you to feel at home when you are there. A fire pit in the back allows for some great evenings spent visiting or stargazing at the miles of endless sky that can be seen. These moments are what separate Alberta Flyway from other outfitters.
